HISTORY OF THE ARIZONA PROFESSIONAL CHAPTER OF AISES (AzPC):
In the spring of 1999 a group of American Indian professionals in the Phoenix Area formed an informal group to promote joint corporate activities and establish a professional chapter of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES). Members of this initial group had backgrounds in engineering, science, business, law, and media, and worked for such organizations as Intel, Motorola, Honeywell, Stantec Consulting, Arizona Public Service, and the 21st Century Native American.
The goal of the group was reached on August 26, 1999, when the Arizona Professional Chapter (AzPC) of AISES was granted official chapter status by the AISES National Board of Directors. The name Arizona was chosen to include any and all residents of Arizona who choose to become members. AzPC is based in the Phoenix "Valley of the Sun", but strives to reach out beyond the boundaries of Phoenix.
EXECUTIVE BOARD and AzPC MEMBERS:
AzPC holds their elections prior to December of each year. The Chair and Vice-Chair shall not serve more than two full terms in succession in the same office. The following is a list of the AzPC Executive Board and General AzPC Members:

LEGAL STATUS:
To become an AISES professional chapter, the following documents were drafted and submitted to AISES National on May 4, 1999:
- Letter of Intent to form a Professional Chapter;
- Affiliation Agreement between AISES Nation and the AzPC; and
- AzPC By-laws
AzPC drafted its Business Plan and 2000 Strategic Plan entitled, "Bridging Native Tradition and Culture with the Sciences". Included in the Strategic Plan are: the National AISES Mission and Goals, and the AzPC Mission, Goals, and Objectives. The purpose of the AzPC Mission, Goals, and Objectives. The purpose of AzPC is to support existing high school and college AISES chapters, assist in organizing new chapters, provide scholarships, coordinate internships, assist with the National and Regional Conferences and Science Fairs, and provide social events and networking oppurtunities for professional members.
